COLLECTIVE VOICE: Representation on local, state, and national levels
on issues of copyright, taxes, standards, etc. What We Have
Already Done For You...PROTECTED YOUR RIGHTS: In California, APA was
instrumental in the passage of work-for-hire legislation and also clarifying
ownership rights to works of art.
APA's efforts were also crucial to the recent changes by the Board of Equalization
in California sales tax rules improving the treatment of photographers under
California law.
On a national level, APA, as an active member of the Copyright Coalition,
helped to introduce proposals in Washington, D.C. to redefine work-for-hire
in the current federal copyright law and secure exemptions for photographers
in tax law.
