The panel presentation will cover copyright-related policy issues on Capitol Hill, including Orphan Works; laws regarding creation, ownership, and rights granted under licensing; infringement issues; and how to register your photographs with the U.S. Copyright Office. A question and answer session will follow the presentations.
The Copyright Alliance is in its fourth year as a Washington, D.C., based nonprofit that is committed to promoting the cultural and economic benefits of copyright, providing information and resources on the contributions of copyright, and upholding the contributions of copyright to the fiscal health of this nation and for the good of creators, owners and consumers around the world. Its membership includes unions, artist groups, corporations, trade associations, and thousands of individual artists and creators. Its sister organization, the Copyright Alliance Education Foundation, provides free curricula on digital citizenship to K-12 schools across the United States.
Karin E. Sullivan is in her fifth year of practice as a Colorado-based copyright and trademark attorney. Before law school at the DePaul University College of Law's Intellectual Property Program she studied graphic design at the University of Kansas. She has interned for the U.S. Department of State's Office of Cultural Property in Washington, D.C. Many of the copyright issues that Karin deals with involve the ownership or transfer of copyrights, licensing of copyrighted works, user generated content, licensed content, registering copyrighted works, and copyright infringement.
